We try to help students develop femininity, poise, grace, self-expression and creativity. All lessons are done to appropriate musical accompaniment. The highlight of this program is the dance recital at the end of the year.

Courses in classical ballet training with emphasis on correct technique, placement, alignment, musicality and expression includes bare work, center floor adagio and allegro movements, traveling variations, partnering and choreography from traditional and contemporary ballets. Ballet is the foundation for all other forms of dance and is essential to succeed in other disciplines as well such as gymnastics, sports, ice-skating, cheerleading and martial arts.
Considered to be the most American of all dance styles, tap dancing is composed of rhythmic sounds made by movements of the feet by shoes with metal plates or “taps” attached to the toes and heels. The feet are literally used like instruments to make sounds and music and students of all ages are excited to create different rhythms including their own! Tap is foremost a part of musical theatre and movies and encompasses many styles from soft-shoe, hoofing, swing, rhythm, and Broadway. Students learn about sound, rhythm, syncopation, speed, phrasing, synchronization and the use of tap as a performing art.
Seen in Broadway shows, music videos, television commercials and sports entertainment this athletic, fast-paced, high impact form of dance consists of kicks, leaps, turns, flips and jumps combined with choreographed routines and free expressive movements. Jazz dance has its roots in ballet, modern and ethnic dance but incorporates many styles like show dance, ballroom, Latin, hip hop, lyrical, swing and kick line as well as the latest trends in dance. Students are trained in isolation exercises, jazz technique, stretches for limberness, extensions and ease of movement; them progress to combinations and routines that are truly show stopping!
Dance productions are an important part of our students’ education. The preparation and performance for a show are essential aspects of the students training and the recital is their day to be in the spotlight and show all they have accomplished throughout the year. In addition the students learn how to develop stage presence, direction, charisma and showmanship.
