Beginner Dance (5-11 Years Old)

Our beginner dance program incorporates the fundamental principles of ballet, tap and jazz with strong technical focus. Students are introduced to dance vocabulary, proper body alignment, pointed feet, extended lines of legs and arms, and turn out, while developing flexibility and coordination (55 minute class)

Intro to Dance (3,5-5 Years Old)

This 45 min program introduces young dancers to the wonderful world of dance using dance creativity, imagination, and props.

Contemporary Fusion (8-10 Years Old)

A contemporary fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance techniques with strong technical focus as classical ballet as its foundation. Students are introduced to dance vocabulary, proper body alignment, pointed feet, extended lines of legs and arms, and turn out, while developing flexibility and coordination.  Modern day creativity, fundamental principles.

Hip Hop (7-16 Years Old)

This high energy class focuses on strength, endurance, and coordination while touching on fundamental hip hop technique and moves (55 minute class)

Jazz Funk (8-16 Years Old)

Combines fundamental technique, leaps, turns, and jumps with the fresh style found in Hip Hop class (55 minutes class)

Modern (7-16 Years Old)

An expressive form of dance that incorporates the discipline of Ballet (55 minute class)

Melissa Rodnon has been teaching dance to children since 1988, beginning as an assistant teacher at the 92nd St. ‘Y’ Dance Center. She was on the faculty of Ballet Academy East for 20 years, and has also taught at the Joffrey School, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, the Berkeley Carroll School and numerous other schools. She had an extensive career as a modern dancer in NYC, and performed often with Dances…Patrelle ballet company. Melissa appeared as a principal modern dancer in that company’s full-length ballet, “Romeo and Juliet,” and originated the role of Mother Ginger in the company’s “The Yorkville Nutcracker.”
